Sailors who are looking for used sailboats for sale in Texas shouldn’t have to sift through dozens of out of state listings to find something nearby, or at least within reasonable driving distance. As fellow sailors who live in Austin, we started this listing of sailboats for sale in Texas to provide a more regionally focused resource. It is for those who are looking to buy or sell used sailboats in Texas and neighboring states only. Here you will find mostly ads for boats located in the Lone Star state, with a few from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma, but other than that, no listings in faraway places.
Our used sailboat listings are free for anyone to use. If your boat sells because of our service, and if you feel so inclined, you can offer to buy Melissa and I a couple of Margaritas at our favorite dockside bar by sending a small donation. If you don’t want to, that’s OK as well.

What services do we provide for free you may ask? Your ad will be placed on its own web page. We will edit your Texassailboatads.com ad, optimize your photos, and update the ad once per week if needed. You can add video taken from your camera or smart phone, or if you have a YouTube video of your boat, send us the link and we’ll include it in the ad at no charge. There are no fees of any kind for our boat ads.
All that we ask is that once your boat sells, or the ad expires, you allow us to keep the listing in our archives, along with a photo. (Your contact info will be removed from any archived listings.) The expired ad will remain on the site and you can refer buyers to it from other sites, or simply visit it years from now for nostalgia’s sake. By allowing your expired ad to remain on the site, other sailors who are buying and selling similar boats can get an idea of asking prices and features.
How To Use Our Free Texas Sailboats For Sale Site:
Rules:
Sailboats for sale must be located in Texas or its bordering states and have a clear title. No exceptions. No powerboats please.
Your ad will placed on this site for a period of 120 days, then archived as “Sold” or “Unsold”, with your phone and other contact info removed from the ad. You can relist it after 120 days by reducing the price. Price may be reduced every 7 days and your boat will also be listed in the “Price Reduced” category. Minimum price reduction is 5%.
Simply send us an email with all the information you wish listed about your boat. Here is what we require:
- Choose an asking price. Note that you may not increase the asking price, but if you want, you can reduce it after waiting one week.
- Please include as much information as possible about the vessel, including length, width, displacement, draft, keel type, history, known defects, spare sails and extras, type of engine, salt or freshwater kept, city, etc. All we ask is that you be honest and do not hide any known issues from buyers.
- Include a recent good quality digital photo of your boat. We will edit the image to fit your ad.
- Include your primary phone number and e-mail address. Indicate whether you wish for buyers to contact you at your phone number, email address, or both. We will not contact you unless there is a problem with your ad and we never give your contact info to anyone you don’t want us to.
- Please re-write your ad using different words and phrases if you have placed it elsewhere. This is important to help search engines find your sailboat ad.

Cautions For Buyers and Sellers
This website offers free boating classified ads featuring sailboats for sale in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. We offer listings for no charge, as a complimentary service to the sailing community. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any listings, nor offer any warranty or assurances that the seller has provided factual information about any vessel listed on this site. Buyers should use common sense and have a licensed marine surveyor conduct a full inspection of the boat before a sale occurs. Sellers should be honest and divulge any facts about the vessel that could negatively affect its value or safety. There are currently many scams out there where foreign buyers offer to send you a check while you ship them the boat. Those checks most often turn out to be fake, and the seller loses both the value of their vessel and shipping costs. Don’t finalize a sale with any buyers whom you have not personally met and always verify that their bank draft or cashier’s check is legitimate. A proper bill of sale should be obtained for any boat purchased.
